Hurry Hurry Hard! Win a trip to Russia to shoot Curling!

Advisory Board Chairman Jim Wilkes passes this opportunity along  from former Toronto Star editor Brian McAndrew.  This is a great opportunity for anyone with a love of sports photography and Curling in particular. Check out the links below for information on a contest that could see you travelling to Russia to photograph the World Junior Curling Championships in Sochi!

The deadline is December 17. Judges are looking for a curling portfolio demonstrating your skills. There is also a link for media accreditation to a Bonspiel in Brantford this weekend to get you started!

Here is the link to the contest details;

Brian sends along this added information and links to the Brantford event on Nov. 14. Thanks Brian!

If someone from Loyalist was really keen on that curling contest, they’d get their best shots by heading off to Brantford later this week for the $100,000 Masters of Curling event at the Brantford Golf and Country Club, one of the biggest events on the “pro-circuit.”

All the top teams will be there: Olympic gold medal winners Kevin Martin and Brad Gushue, former Canadian & world champions Glenn Howard, Jeff Stoughton and Kevin Koe and world-ranked Thomas Ulsrud from Norway and Niklas Edin of Sweden along with a lot of up-and-coming younger Canadian teams.
On the women’s side there will be former Canadian and world champions Colleen Jones from Halifax and Kelly Scott of Vancouver, Olympians Shannon K|eibrink from Alberta, Eve Muirhead from Great Britain and Anna Sidorova from Russia, defending world champion Mirjam Ott of Switzerland and former Canadian champions Amber Holland and Heather Nedohin.
Chief organizer is Wayne Tuck, Jr. at 519-318-1591 to contact for getting a press pass and permission to go on the ice.
If someone does go, let me know and I can alert the event photographer from The Curling News who I know who can help the student out with some shooting tips.

Thanks Brian and Jim! Best of luck to everyone!
